The Garden is a speculative digital ecosystem that explores the future of bio-aesthetic identity through a hybrid virtual species, 蝴蝶兰骨 / Hudielangu. The Chinese name 蝴蝶兰骨 combines 蝴蝶 (butterfly), 兰 (orchid), and 骨 (bone), reflecting the creature’s synthesis of insect, botanical, and anatomical structures. Each Hudielangu is generated through a custom-trained generative machine learning pipeline, built on a self-curated image dataset and GAN training conducted in Google Colab, followed by post-processing. The project frames each Hudielangu as a living digital species with identity and ownership. This work speculates how visual structures, interface logic, and interaction can condition meaning and presence within digital environments.

02 Web
After establishing the visual identity, a dedicated website was designed as an extension of the ecosystem. The platform allows visitors to browse and claim a unique Hudielangu, assign it a name, and receive a persistent digital identity badge. The website operates as a speculative environment that models how identity and ownership might operate within a synthetic species archive te within a synthetic species archive.
